Note: The music is presented twice. First is an exact transcription of the original tablature ("versione oggettiva"), along with a harpsichord version, which Visée provided for movements 2, 4-6 only, both from the original edition (Paris : Bonneuil, 1686); plus a version for modern guitar ("versione soggettiva") by the editor. These 3 versions are lined up vertically on the page for easy study and comparison. Second is the modern guitar version again, in larger notes and with fingerings added, for performance purposes.

Includes facsims. of "Advis" from the composer's Livre de guittarre (Paris : Bonneuil, 1682) and the movements of the suite, in tablature, from the original ed. (Paris : Bonneuil, 1686); and a transcription of the "Advis," biographical sketch, and extensive notes on the interpretation of the composer's tablature, all in Italian, English, and German.
